About The Jennifer Ewan Band

The Jennifer Ewan Band perform a stirring mix of compelling original songs and old-time Cajun dance music with a Celtic tint.

The band comprises singer-songwriter/guitarist Jennifer Ewan and reunites two former members of Deaf Heights Cajun Aces in Kim Tebble on accordion/flute and Simon Fildes on bass. Completing the line-up is percussionist Paul Dennington (Wolfnote, The Dark Jokes).

Jen’s rich and distinctive voice is a link between Scottish song traditions and American country music from Appalachia to Louisiana to Texas. Scots-Cajun mid-tempo personal ballads are grounded in the grooves of Cajun dance music and the unusual interplay of accordion, acoustic guitar and bass.

The band has appeared on BBC Radio’s The Afternoon Show, Celtic Connections at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and BBC Radio Scotland’s “The Janice Forsyth Show”. They first brought their show, Bonnie Bayou, to the Edinburgh Festival in 2017 and performed to sell-out audiences throughout their twelve-night run, building on this success at the 2018 and 2019 Festival with two highly acclaimed runs of shows at the Jazz Bar.
